Civil Ceremony

The Tythe Barn holds a full Civil License and is a peaceful and tranquil setting in which to hold your service. Choose to marry in the beautiful gardens and enjoy ‘walking up the aisle’ through our breath-taking pergolas (these really do look stunning particularly in the spring when they are brimming over with wonderful lilac wysteria). There aren’t many barn wedding venues that can match the enjoyment and atmosphere of our candle-lit Barn.

We provide a full planning service and can offer advise with regard to your arrangements. The main barn can seat up to 130 guests for a Civil Ceremony and for smaller weddings the cowshed offers a more intimate environment.

We hope that you’d agree that as far as country wedding venues go, there is little to compare us to.

Church

The village of Launton has a beautiful 12th Century church which can be accessed via a pleasant 20 metre walk through the gardens of the Tythe Barn. Residents of the Bicester benefice can be married in St. Mary’s Church while non-residents have the option of a blessing at the church. Subject to Church of England approval.

Receptions

At The Tythe Barn we offer all of our guests the opportunity to experience something truly memorable. There is no set package and our experience over the years has only re-inforced our belief that each bride, each groom, each couple, come to us with very personal wishes and ideas about how they envisage their special day together. We are a family run business and passionately aware of the desire for flexibility. To us every wedding is different and this is what continues to make our job so exciting and enjoyable. Since the birth of the barn it has always been our aim to provide a high quality service and product in a relaxed ambience. On first meeting we like you to just ‘get a feel’ for the venue and to answer any questions you may have. We are always here for you to come and visit us and to listen to your plans and ideas. From there we can start to build a picture of your perfect day together.

We offer a full planning service with friendly advice on all aspects of your day from the initial consultation right through to the final moments of your wedding. Whatever your plans our experienced team of staff with their cheerful and efficient approach ensures the smooth running of your day. The Tythe Barn can seat between 40 and 155 guests comfortably, with an optional marquee on the lawn should you wish to entertain larger numbers. Our drinks licence allows you and your guests to celebrate with us until midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings. (Extensions beyond midnight can be organised by prior arrangement.) We offer a comprehensive Wine and Champagne list.

Our exclusive and all-in booking fee garuntees that the venue and grounds are entirely yours for the day providing you and your guests with absolute privacy. We prefer to focus completely on one event at a time. On booking at The Tythe Barn- there are no hidden costs because we understand the importance of being able to budget and plan for your wedding from the very beginning. Many of our Wedding couples have complimented us on our understanding on this matter. The prices mentioned include exclusive use of the Tythe Barn and all it’s facilities, a comprehensive planning service, use of all chairs, tables, glassware, crockery, cake table, stand, knife, candles, candle holders and a security-lit car park for 75 vehicles.

The Bridal Suite

Catering

Our own caterers provide superb cuisine for bespoke menus using the very best of fresh local produce and can accommodate all culinary requirements. Tastings can be organised by prior arrangement. We have successfully worked together with Taylor’s Cuisine for many years and pride ourselves on our united team skills.

Brian Taylor likes to become involved with each couple from the very beginning- getting to know them, their tastes and preferences and offering advise and ideas. Generally- the fussier you want to be, the happier we are. We get alot of people from the trade returning to us year after year (hoteliers, restauranteurs etc). Raymond Blanc of The Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and his team have chosen to visit us at Christmas for the past 4 years!

General information

At The Tythe Barn, we are aware that each wedding is a very special and unique occasion and therefore offer no set packages. Instead we pride ourselves on providing a truly personal service. We are also very aware that this can be a very daunting experience. Our aim is to take all the pressure, stresses and strains away and make your day as enjoyable, exciting and relaxed as you require.

• On first viewing: we’ll show you around the venue, listen to your requirements, answer a few questions and make a few suggestions.
• Second viewing: come and see us again – get a few more ideas and see the wonderful gardens in full bloom.
• Pre-wedding meeting: The Tythe Barn and Taylors Cuisine will arrange with you a 2 hour run-through meeting, to discuss your day in depth.
• Menu: food tasting can be arranged with Taylors Cuisine.
• Wine: wine tasting – you can sample wines or champagnes from our wine list, to take away and try at your leisure.

At the beginning of your bridal week: drop off your table plans; place settings, favours *etc, at The Tythe Barn. Have a final chat and then it’s time for you to start to relax and leave the rest to us!

On the day: we’ll lay up the tables, place the name cards, the favours, polish the glasses, open the red wine to breathe, chill the champagne, have the music playing, light the candles and set the scene as you envisaged it, awaiting your arrival!

On arrival: your guests will be greeted by our friendly staff, headed up by your dedicated event manage. The Tythe Barn Manager, will ensure your day flows smoothly and on time, also acting as a M.C. The Taylors Cuisine Manager, will ensure all your catering requirements are met and, with the two teams working as one, we would hope all the arrangements at The Tythe Barn, will exceed your expectations!
