Regional Countryside Wedding Venue of the Year!
On the 19th November, many of the wedding industry experts came together at Farnham Castle for the 2019 Wedding Industry Awards for the South Central region. The Tythe Barn had been voted as a finalist in two categories - Wedding Event Team and Countryside Wedding Venue of the Year.

The evening began with a Prosecco reception in the beautiful hallway of Farnham Castle. It had been pouring with rain all the way down from Oxfordshire and there were 5 of our team huddled into the Hybrid Golf so emerging from the car and being met by the lovely Damian Bailey (Founder of TWIA) and his lovely wife Anna was a very welcome site! The evening was already in full swing and within minutes of being handed a glass of Prosecco we were also all tucking into a selection of incredibly tasty canapes, substantial enough that they were served in bowls which was great for us as we'd all missed out on tea and had arrived at the venue in Surrey starving!! You could sense the excitement from everyone gathered and there's something nice about being surrounded by people that fully understand the business that you're in - the highs, lows, demands, pressures and rewards - regardless of their own particular field of expertise.
This evening was celebrating the best of the best in the South Central region and there were to be awards handed out in 23 different categories from florists and venue dressers to photographers, cake makers and stationers. The awards were set up by Damian to recognise and reward 'excellence' within the Wedding Industry and TWIA is the only regional and national client-voted awards within the wedding industry. It highlights the best wedding suppliers in the country and in doing so helps to support all those couples who have the often daunting task of organising a wedding. The winners in each category are decided upon by a panel of judges, all industry experts themselves, the regional winners then go on to the national awards ceremony which is held in London in January.
As a team we always work well together and individually we all put in 100% effort all of the time...we also play well together and it was lovely to be out, socialising and relaxing in each others company. Having been short-listed as regional finalists in two categories we were all feeling excited and a little bit nervous. Damian had briefed the crowd on the protocol should you be announced as a winner and it involved the suggestion for a lot of jumping and waving of arms in the air whilst walking the red carpet to the stage. A few minutes in and Laura whispered in my ear that 'although we were relatively close to the stage in order for us to walk the red carpet we would have to do a near lap of the room' - and it was a large room!
We were pipped at the post for the Event Team award but were absolutely thrilled when we heard The Tythe Barn Launton read out as the winner of the countryside 'Wedding Venue of the Year' 2019. It is definitely the result of a team effort all the way and it feels fantastic that the passion that goes in to running our venue has been recognised and appreciated, not just by those that know us but by those who don't.
