Tythe joined up with the amazing Annabel, founder of renowned wedding blog ‘Love My Dress’ to share the inside stories of six Tythe brides and their journey to finding their perfect summer wedding gown. We delved into the tricky dilemmas that brides often face when torn between selecting a dress that aligns with ‘family’ expectations and choosing ‘the one’ that truly reflects their personal preference and we learned how one bride chose her dress because it epitomised the vision she had of herself walking down the aisle at the Tythe estate. Whilst we are pretty confident we have a hidden gem in Tythe – it’s hopelessly romantic, stylishly rustic and run by a team who absolutely love what they do – we were both humbled and thrilled to hear such wonderful comments, from our Tythe brides, documented in a Love My Dress feature. If you’re looking to visit Tythe or want to know why some of our past brides fell head over heels in love with our Oxfordshire wedding venue – read on.

Jess Wulff married Liam on 29th July.

Jess wore a wedding dress by Halfpenny London and chose shoes by Jimmy Choo. With Frankie Neal on make up and the wonderful Igor Demba behind the camera this summer wedding in late July was pure heaven.

Jess’ thoughts – ‘I just love that at Tythe you have the whole venue for the whole weekend. It was the first and only venue we saw. They have been hosting weddings for so long that everything runs so smoothly. You don’t have to think about a thing yourself, everyone is doing the thinking for you. It’s an incredible venue with incredible staff, so groomed and spectacular you really don’t have to add anything to it.’

Eloise Lyall married George on 13th June.

Eloise wore a wedding dress for her summer wedding by Essence of Australia from boutique Pure Couture Bridal. The bride chose a perfect combo of suppliers with the incredible Laura Carroll on make-up, Dearest Love on photography and florist The Flower Story This wedding created so much excitement, not least because it was the first wedding Tythe had hosted where the ceremony took place within the backdrop of our Avenue of Silver Birch Trees. Over to Eloise…

‘We saw Tythe’s Avenue of Birch Trees and George said, imagine if we got married there?’.

Originally the backdrop was going to be the open countryside but then we flipped it, so guests were facing the beautiful old barn. Everyone could see us, and I was able to have the train of the dress trailing down the steps. I wanted that impact for everyone. We could hear the wind rustling in the trees, the sheep were baaing in the field behind us, there was never a silence. Later our photographer took us to some farm buildings that are out of sight and we had some really impactful images shot there. I wanted something more alternative with a bit more attitude and at a venue like Tythe you can achieve that.’

Hilly Thorn married Chris on 1st July.

Hilly wore Suzanne Neville with shoes by Jimmy Choo and the most incredible floral styling by Tythe favourite The Flower Shed Oxford. Captured beautifully by Rebecca Goddard Photography, Hilly and Chris’ wedding weekend was like a countryside fairytale.

Hilly says… ‘For me, what’s so special about Tythe is it feels like a real bubble of love because everything is so brilliantly contained in one place. The vision that sold it to me was the idea of being in its beautiful farmhouse gardens for our couple shots. I’m not the most confident person in front of the camera and I liked that we were able to take ourselves away and do that a little more privately. It felt like being at home because we were staying there.’

Hollie Lucocq-Langdown married Alexander on 10th June.

Hollie wore a wedding dress by J.Andreatta and chose shoes by Jimmy Choo. With Isobel Kennedy on make up and Gary Nunn behind the camera capturing all the gorgeous styling, this early June wedding was dreamy from beginning to end.

Hollie – ‘The venue blew us away from the second we arrived. We stayed in the farmhouse the night before and when I woke on my wedding morning in the bridal suite, I was so nervous. But it was a wonderfully relaxed morning with all the family. The gardens with all the flowers are just stunning and we had a lot of pictures taken on the lawn in front of the Willow tree. But what really sold Tythe to me was the wisteria arch. Once I saw it and the surrounding gardens, I knew that was where I had to be married. There was no point looking at another venue because nothing would be as beautiful. We had the amazing crystal chandeliers in the barn and lots of candlelight. It felt so glamorous and modern. You can adapt Tythe into anything you want it to be, it’s so versatile.’

Jennifer Halladey married Spencer on 1st June.

Jen chose a beautiful Anna Kara gown for her summer wedding in June with wonderful Sophie Tilley on make up to create the perfect wedding day look. A winning combination with Willow and Thyme on flowers and photography by Marcus Rice and not forgetting the special addition of Golden Harp Girl as a musical accompaniment for the dreamy outdoor ceremony.

Jen’s words… ‘I loved the thought of getting married outside and walking under Tythe’s wisteria arch in front of the huge barn doors, my dress blending into the incredible florals that are planted around the estate. It was cold and windy on the morning but at 1pm on the dot, the sunshine came out and that’s when we married. I got my dream wedding! Later, walking down the centre of the barn, under our flower chandeliers, my dress catching the light, with all our guests sat on the banqueting tables high fiving us as we passed by, was just incredible. When I look at that picture it epitomises everything I wanted from the day.’

Dee-Anna Chorney married Simon on 25th July.

Dee-Anna chose a beautiful Caroline Takvorian wedding dress from gorgeous London boutique The Mews Bridal. The bride also selected two pairs of shoes for the day from chic designers Chia Mihara and Penelope Chilvers. With Dee-Anna choosing The Flower Story for her blooms and MT Studio Photography to capture the entire day, Tythe was transformed into a dreamy backdrop for their summer wedding…

Over to Dee Anna…

‘We didn’t need to look at a single other wedding venue. We stayed in the farmhouse on the family farm, it’s such a beautiful place. I know they host weddings so well because it’s so meaningful to the family.’
