Yes, Spring is fresh and blooming; Summer is for long hazy wedding days and Autumn is a riot of colour. But here at Tythe, Winter will forever be our favourite season for cosy, candlelit celebrations with a sprinkling of snow for extra sparkle.
It’s Snow Time!
Imagine throwing open the Farmhouse windows on your wedding morning to see a blanket of white and snow-speckled sheep. Welcome to your very own Narnia set. As the excitement of all that lays ahead laces the crisp air, get the day started right with a dip in our woodfired hot tub for pure Alpine vibes.
The Sexiest Christmas Stockings
It’s all about what lies beneath! It’s time for your something blue. Lace, pearls and barely-there chiffon are the order of the day, finished with a pretty blue bow, or a ruffled silk garter that’s just for you too. Better yet, Bicester Village is Tythe’s closest neighbour so it’s never too late to buy those special finishing touches.
The Chicest Colour Palette
What could be prettier for your winter wedding than rich red berries + Winter greens + pure snow white? Just add our giant barn doors, the walled garden or the sweeping countryside beyond for the perfect rustic backdrop. And for him? A red velvet dickie bow, of course.
Nostalgia in the Air
Favourite childhood scents of orange, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, pine and eucalyptus are at every turn. This is the time to fill your day with comforting smells that remind you of home. Try Tythe favourite Jo Loves for limited edition scenting including plum pudding, gingerbread and snowflakes.
Gifts That Say ‘I Love You’
A gift you will treasure forever and a reminder of the place it all began. Think a beautifully captured photograph in a silver frame, a rustic box to store all those little keepsakes, a guestbook with heartfelt messages you will read on each anniversary or a special bottle of something you’ll treasure until the next big celebration.
Dresses That Sparkle
Go for all over shimmer with a wedding dress that no one will forget, or a diaphanous overskirt that the fairy lights will love. This trend is for everyone, so invite mums, maids and the men to dress up too, then just add one giant disco ball!
Decadent Desserts
It’s the season for indulgence and the one where our cake window becomes an art gallery of cakes that are (almost!) too good to eat. From painterly watercolours to delicate frosting and sugar flower florals, we’ll take a slice of them all!
It’s Officially Party Season
And your invitation is the one everyone wants. Let the dancing, singing and memory making begin! It’s the party of your life, so kick back, have fun and spend the rest of the year reliving all your favourite highlights.
Cheers to you both!
When else can you have a Champagne tower and not feel the slightest bit guilty? Enough said.
Make It All White
From your wedding dress and a billowing silk veil, to the mini maids, the cake and a handsome groom in a crisp white tux. Winter at Tythe will always be glamorous and eternally chic.
Festive Feasting
This is not the time to hold back! Gather your crowd and serve a multi-course supper to remember. From formal fine dining to family-style sharing, whatever works best for you. Just make it fun and plentiful. You’ll dance it all off in no time, we promise!
It’s Golden Hour, Every Hour
An early sunset calls for giant crystal chandeliers, festoon lanterns filling the trees, hundreds of sparklers, a roaring wood burner and dining under a canopy of fairy lights. Winter means flatters-all lighting from the first kiss to last moonlit dance.
Carols in Church
Nothing squashes the nerves quite like two hundred of your nearest and dearest belting out O Come, All Ye Faithful. Then once you’ve completed the official bit at our beautiful 12th century village church, St Mary’s, simply walk along the church path and straight onto the Tythe estate. We’ll have the Champagne on ice!
Chic Cover-Ups
There’s no need for the cold shoulder. This is the season to accessorize! Layer-up in fake-fur, a swathe of sequins, or a chic cream wool coat that you can wear again – the perfect reminder of that special night you partied under the stars.
Fireside Nightcaps
Let the memory of your wedding night together finish with a warming nightcap. If you’re staying in the estate Farmhouse, make sure you remember to bring your favourite miniatures and attach them to the playful cloth nightcaps in the kitchen. Long after the band have packed up and gone home, you can share your stories and a final tipple with the ones you love the most.
A Cosy Sleepover
Take your pick from seven double bedrooms at Tythe’s fully renovated Farmhouse. With super-luxe and sustainable mattresses, gorgeous bathroom smellies, the fluffiest robes and a roaring log burner to come down to in the kitchen each morning, this is how a sleepover should be done. Need room for a few more? How about cuddling up in our snow-topped Shepherd’s Hut for two? The best bit? The Farmhouse can be booked separately so you can come back and do it all over again for your first wedding anniversary.
A Please-All Play List
It would be impossible not to feel festive when your wedding day starts with Michael Bublé gently telling us all It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas. Keep the momentum going with Andy Williams’ It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year; before the dancefloor fillers kick in. We recommend Elton John’s Step into Christmas before you round off the night with Leona Lewis and One More Sleep. One thing you can be guaranteed – everyone will know all the words!
It’s a table décor no-brainer!
If you’ve been agonising over how to decorate your tables in a way that feels fun and helps to break the ice, the festive season will always deliver with crackers to suit your colour scheme. How can guests not enter into the spirit when they’re wearing a brightly coloured paper crown?
Family Comes First
As a family run business that has been hosting your weddings in our home for more than twenty years, we understand how special this moment is for you and every one of your guests. There is no better feeling than watching you make festive memories at the same table and on the same lawns where we have played with our own children and celebrated huge family occasions. So please consider our home, your home for as long as you’re with us – and until the next time you return.
Hangover be damned, it’s the holidays!
Let the slide into Christmas begin . . . because there’s always January for party-goers remorse. For now, it’s time to get under the mistletoe – or in our case the giant glitter ball – and party like it’s someone’s wedding day. And if one day’s not enough, simply extend your stay – there’s room for everyone in the Deeley family Farmhouse.
