There’s always a buzz of excitement around wedding mornings, particularly the preparations. Traditionally, much of that focus has been on one partner, often the bride, and she’s usually given lots of attention and the offer of several beautiful spaces to get ready. Meanwhile, the other partner, often the Groom, can be left wondering where they fit in. After 26 years of hosting weddings at Tythe and showing countless couples around, I started to notice this imbalance. It didn’t sit right with me and I made it my focus to ensure that both partners felt equally important, equally celebrated, and properly looked after from the very start of their day.

During the recent refurbishment of the Farmhouse, we made this a key priority, creating independent and dedicated spaces for both partners, however access to these ‘prep spaces’ in the house is not available to every booking at Tythe and we recognised we needed to find a flexible and stylish solution.

The Lodge has been designed to tick a number of boxes. By being located at the front of the venue, between the 14th century Thatched Barn and our fields beyond, it serves as the ultimate space to both ‘get ready’ prior to the ceremony and host ‘welcome drinks’ to guests as they arrive. While it was initially inspired by the traditional ‘groom’s space’, it has been created to suit any partner who wants their own place to unwind, get ready with their tribe and soak up those pre-ceremony vibes before welcoming their guests as the day begins.
