Wedding Showcase 2022

If you didn’t manage to attend our Wedding Showcase at the weekend, don’t worry we’ve got you covered – all the action has been captured by the fabulous Sam Bennett Photography. Grab a cuppa and take yourself there!

We had gorgeous florists The Flower Fairies and The Flower Story with us to add their magic to our indoor ceremony space and tables and with fluffy gypsophilia clouds, broken arches created from grasses, seed heads and toffee roses, and the milk churns over flowing with lush greenery we think you’ll agree that it all looked absolutely beautiful! It did sit rather well with our gorgeous backdrop of old stone walls and rustic beams!

Stepping into The Cowshed, through the thick stone door way, you’ll find an intimate and stylish space that boasts ‘to die for’ timber beams and floor to ceiling glazing – perfect for your reception drinks or evening munchies later in the day. The view out over the intensely private gardens is breath-taking and the inside-outside vibe strikes a great balance for early evening cocktails, garden games or mooching from The Cowshed’s wood-fired pizza oven to snuggle up on a sheepskin by the outdoor wood burners! The Cowshed is a wonderful place to enjoy reception drinks following an indoor ceremony or time with your guests post dinner. With the beams draped in twinkiling fairy lights, deep leather armchairs to sink into and roaring fires it has a fantastic atmosphere at any time of year.

Our wood-fired pizza oven serves up the best pizzas in Oxfordshire (wink!) and with Lucca at the realm, our genuine Italian chef, bringing a bit of Tuscany to Launton alongside a little theatrical tossing of dough your guests will be delighted and kept suitably entertained. The Hovel, a relaxed setting that extends out from The Cowshed, provides further floor to ceiling glass and beautiful oak doors that concertina back to allow for a great connection with the gardens beyond. An impressive woodburner sits in the corner offering a place to sit, take it all in and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the barn! We’ve seen many a Photo Booth set up here too which works well if you’re not using our Landie and hay bales as an option.

The Farmhouse – welcome to our new luxurious accommodation and an opportunity for you and your guests to settle in to a wonderful 17th Century house that has been our home for over 500 years. Dating back to the 15th Century in parts and mentioned in the Domesday Book, The Farmhouse offers 7 double ensuite bedrooms, huge kitchen/diner, lounge, library, bridal prep room, groom’s room, tennis court, hot tub and Shepherd Hut sleeping 2 with it’s own ensuite, kitchen and wood burner. Your very own slice of country life set at the heart of our working farm. During the showcase we managed to give our guests a glimpse at one of the rooms in the house but the rest is under substantial renovations so you will have to wait to see more. Coming out of The Farmhouse, you re-enter the barn gardens through the Wisteria-clad wedding aisle and to the right you will find a carefully restored barn, transformed into a stunning bridal preperation barn – The Nook. A designated space for our brides and her bridesmaids to get ready in much consideration was given to the space and in true tythe style every nook and cranny (ooh did you like what I did there?) has been meticulously planned and thought out. The wall that is dedicated to ‘The Dress, Veil, Shoes and Bouquet’ has always been a hit over on the gram and a firm favourite with our brides! With the introduction of The Farmhouse space coming soon, we may be considering a few tweaks and updates to our gorgeous little Nook but keep tuned for further details!!

Back in the main barn, Joe our bar manager was busy making cocktails of course it would have been utterly rude not to have offered my help with a tasting! Our bar had been through a major overhaul prior to the pandemic and with a brass top and mix of reclaimed wood and antique glass shelving it is now the perfect spot to pull up a milk churn bar stool and dive into your tipple of choice. Looks great for photos too!

In our front garden The Shepherd’s Hut is currently a private, hidden retreat for our wedding couple to spend their wedding night together. Soon to be re-located to the gardens of The Farmhouse it will provide quirky additional sleeping quarters for two and with it’s own double bed, ensuite, kitchenette, underfloor heating and wood burner, will undoubtedly become a room your guests may fight over.

The entire team at tythe had the most incredible weekend and we were absolutely thrilled to have so many couples booked in to view the venue. We wish to offer a great big dose of tythe love and thanks to all those that supported us and in particular the suppliers who offered their time and services to help transform the entire estate into the magical setting that welcomed couples through our big barn doors.
